Women's Perspective Leads College Students on Haiti
Immersion Trip
Left: Students met with an advocacy
group serving rape survivors. "Their ability to share their
pain with total strangers was very moving. It felt like sacred
space and time," said one student.
Women's Perspective led students from St. Mary's College of
Notre Dame, Indiana, on a Bi-Cultural Leadership Trip
to Haiti in October. Students earned college credits for this
trip as a component of a social justice course.
They experienced city and country life, worked in an
orphanage, talked with women leaders in health care,
education, and media, as well as archivists, attorneys,
volunteers and activists. Evenings were spent in conversations
about the root causes of poverty and how our lives in the US
affect the lives of Haitian citizens and others in the
developing world.
"Running water is so scarce - it's a basic necessity
that is denied to so many!" -M.B.
Women's Perspective will design a trip for your
organization that offers experiential learning about the
global issues of poverty and development. Participants explore
the concept of global citizenship and the spiritual connection
of the one human family.

Jean Shinoda Bolen Visits Women's Perspective in
Connecticut
Dr. Bolen (left) with Rosemary
Williams. The respected author, psychiatrist and
visionary, Dr. Jean Shinoda Bolen, recently addressed a packed
crowd gathered in Fairfield, Connecticut, to benefit Women's
Perspective.
Dr. Bolen's newest book, Crones Don't Whine:
Concentrated Wisdom for Juicy Women, examines the last
- and potentially richest - season of women's lives. "Crones"
can devote their time, energy and creativity to what really
matters to them. In a society where being an older woman has
traditionally been dreaded or denied, Dr. Bolen issues a
joyful call to arms.
Women's Perspective was honored by Dr. Bolen's presence
among us, and we thank everyone who came out for an uplifting
evening!
Joint Workshop Planned in 2004: Dr. Bolen and
Rosemary Wiliams will combine their expertise to offer a new
workshop in the Northeast in the summer or fall of 2004. We
invite you to join our email list to receive details when this
event is scheduled.
